Being an iconic and popular site, managing Cwm Idwal is often a balance between helping visitors enjoy the area and protecting the nature that makes Cwm Idwal special.
Irresponsible camping can bring a variety of threats to the nature reserve, such as visual and noise pollution detracting from the tranquillity and sense of place. Camping is also often accompanied by littering, and BBQs/campfires poses a significant wildfire risk, which could damage habitats, wildlife and undo decades of conservation efforts.
We do not permit camping in Cwm Idwal to protect the National Nature Reserve from those threats associated with irresponsible camping.
If you would like to know more, or find information on nearby campsites, please feel free to ask the warden on site.
Thank you for helping us protect Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve.
